Golden Retriever 'Sneaks By' Grumpy Orange Cat Like the World's Worst Ninja

There are some dog breeds that can sneak around like actual ninjas. They're so stealthy it's crazy, and sometimes a little dangerous. There are other dog breeds that are not nearly as stealthy, but they're still trying their best, and that's really all that matters.

Take, for example, Golden Retrievers. They're like the bumblebee of dogs, bumbling lazily from one place to the next and knocking into things along the way. It's very cute, but it's not stealthy, sneaky, or conniving in any way. Until Monday, September 1st, when one Golden Retriever bravely tried to sneak past her grumpy sister:

Maple is lucky every day that she's just a house dog and not working for the FBI or something. As amazing as she is, this sweet girl is not built for that!

Maple is significantly younger than her cat sister Waffles: Maple is 3, while Waffles is 9. Waffles also has six toes on each foot and an attitude problem, but I suppose I might have an attitude too if I went from being an only cat to living with a Golden Retriever. Maple does everything she can to make Waffles happy, though, including taking all of her grumpiest swats. There's a whole compilation about it!

Recently, Maple also adopted a stray cat she found outside. She found him under the family car and built quite the friendship with him, begging her parents to bring him inside, which they finally recently did. His name is Mr. Butterworth, and while Maple adores him, she loves Waffles more. They'll always have a special bond!

How to Keep Your Dog From Annoying Your Cat

No matter what, Waffles is always going to be annoyed by Maple (and now Mr. Butterworth). Waffles is not necessarily a "good with dogs" cat; she's more of a "not the worst with dogs" cat, and that's okay. Your pets don't need to be best friends, they just need to tolerate each other.

If your dog is constantly annoying your cat, you need to do something about it - it's not fair to the feline! Luckily, there are plenty of easy things to try, like:

    1. Putting up gates that your cat can pass through/over, but your dog can't.
    2. Asserting boundaries to the dog and letting them know when they go too far.
    3. Making sure your cat has a separate space, like a room or crate of their own.
    4. Taking your dog out or on walks and letting the cat have some alone time.
    5. Praising the cat for being kind (or even just tolerant) of the dog.

When you first bring your dog home, they should be kept separately from the cat for at least a week and introduced slowly and under heavy supervision. You can even keep them both on leashes to make sure everything goes according to plan. And if you've got a Waffles on your hands, you better just accept that she'll never come down with a case of the warm and fuzzies for the pup...

This dog needs a good brushing! Take care of your animals! And imho, that cat’s an asshole. But aren’t they all 😅
