Whale Found Dead in Alameda Adds to Disturbing Trend in Incidents in the SF Bay Area
A 40-foot-long whale was found dead in Alameda on Sunday. The adult female gray whale washed ashore early morning and marked yet another grim toll in the string of cetacean deaths along the Bay Area coast. This incident is the first reported in the San Francisco Bay Area this year.
Cal Fire to run voluntary evacuation in El Granada on May 11
Personnel from Cal Fire’s San Mateo-Santa Cruz unit and other first responders will be in charge of a voluntary evacuation drill in part of El Granada next month. The drill goes from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and involves only a section of El Granada known as Zone SMC-E092. This includes houses north of Columbus Street and up into El Granada Boulevard.
800 California hospital nurses plan strike
Members of California Nurses Association/National Nurses United plan to hold a 24-hour strike from May 1-2 at Washington Hospital Healthcare System in Fremont, Calif.
