House fire on Pleasant Street in Palmer

PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) – The Palmer Fire Department was called to 1035-1037 Pleasant Street for a house fire Monday morning.

Our 22News crews could see smoke coming out of the roof. The fire started around 4:15 a.m. on Monday, and multiple fire departments assisted to put out the house fire.

Palmer fire said the first began on the porch and had extended to the first and second floors of the home. There were also downed powerlines in the area. Crews were able to put out the fire within the hour.

Pieces of the roof could be seen breaking off and falling to the ground. The Palmer Fire Department told 22News that the families in the home were able to escape, and the cause of the fire is still unknown. The Red Cross is assisting the tenants of the building.

Firefighters from Three Rivers, Bondsville, Wilbraham, Ware, Monson, Ludlow, Warren and Brimfield assisted in the fire.
