A 31-year-old motorcyclist who suffered fatal injuries Sunday night after colliding with a turning vehicle at an intersection was identified on Tuesday by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Caleb Goodrich of Auburn was heading north on North Gene Autry Trail at about 8 p.m. before the collision, according to the Palm Springs Police Department. A vehicle driven by a 64-year-old Rancho Mirage resident was traveling in the other direction, attempting to make a left turn onto East Via Escuela.

The other driver stayed at the scene and was taken to a local hospital with “moderate injuries,” police said.

Investigators determined that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash, which resulted in North Gene Autry Trail being closed overnight. The road reopened at 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Anyone with information regarding the collision was urged to call the Palm Springs Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at 760-323-8125.
