Where does Palm Beach County rank among Florida's richest counties?

Palm Beach County outranked both of its neighbors, Martin and Broward counties, to take the fifth spot on the list of Florida's wealthiest counties.

WEST PALM BEACH — Palm Beach County ranks among the top 5 wealthiest among Florida's nearly 70 counties, Financial tech company SmartAsset reported from its study.

The tech company measured the wealth statistics of each county using data from investment income, property values and per capita income. Palm Beach County outranked both of its neighbors, Martin and Broward counties, which landed in the sixth and seventh spots respectively.

Palm Beach County is known for boasting beaches, golf courses and other outdoor amenities that attract some of the nation's wealthiest to make the Palm Beaches their second home. It also has a booming tourism industry that supports around 70,000 jobs and brings in over $4 billion from tourist spending each year.

How much money do people make in Palm Beach County?

  • Investment income - $149,636
  • Median home value - $458,834
  • Overall wealth index - 28.29

Palm Beach County's median income is just over $11,000 higher than the fourth wealthiest county, Miami-Dade, which surpasses the Palm Beaches in every other category. Key West's Monroe County ranked as the wealthiest, with a median income of $73,153.
