A Florida Turnpike driver is in the hospital after being shot Friday.

Florida Highway Patrol reports around 7:56 p.m., the Lake Worth Regional Communications Center was made aware of a shooting on the Turnpike near Lake Worth Road in Palm Beach County.
According to three occupants in the vehicle where the victim was shot, their vehicle was passing the West Palm Beach Service Plaza when another vehicle attempted to merge into their lane.
The suspect vehicle drove up to the passenger side and fired several rounds into the victim's vehicle.

The driver of that vehicle was struck in the abdomen.
FHP reports the victim had no punctured organs and was taken to Delray Medical Center.
The victim is in stable condition.
