Packwood Woman, 34, Struck and Killed by Vehicle on State Route 7

A 34-year-old Packwood woman was struck by a vehicle on state Route 7 Friday morning and later died at Arbor Health Morton Hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol. 

The woman, who has been identified as Lacey Charbonneau, was reportedly in the southbound lane near mile marker four at about 10 a.m. when the crash occurred. 

She was struck by a 2004 Toyota Camry driven by a 65-year-old Randle man.

The state patrol listed the cause of the incident as a pedestrian in the roadway. The Randle man does not face charges or citations. He was not injured. 

Two passengers in the Camry — a 14-year-old boy and a 25-year-old woman, both from Graham — were also uninjured. 

It’s at least the second time a pedestrian has been struck on rural roads of Lewis County this week. 



An 18-year-old Chehalis resident was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle early Thursday morning after being struck by a semitruck on U.S. Highway 12 near Mary’s Corner, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol. 

Latrell A. Hughes was standing in the roadway when he was struck by a 2022 Mack Anthem driven by Richard R. Smegelski, 66, of Tumwater, according to the state patrol. 

The incident occurred just after midnight, according to the state patrol. 

The state patrol has listed the cause of the crash as pedestrian in the roadway.
