3h agoThe body of a teen who went missing on the Long Island Sound has been recovered, according to the family.
Police say they received a call for a male body in Oyster Bay just west of Caumsett State Park around 12:45 p.m. Sunday.
The family identified the body to News 12 as 19-year-old Jack Koch.
Koch went missing on May 15 after falling off a sailboat.
Many agencies aided the search, including Nassau County Police Marine Bureau, the US Coast Guard, NYPD Aviation Bureau, Oyster Bay Constable, Bayville Fire Department, Oyster Bay Fire Department, Christian Aid Ministries and many local friends and family members.
“While our hearts are broken at the loss of Jack, we are relieved he has been returned to us and grateful for the outpouring of love, generosity, and support from our wonderful community. Jack was the most loyal, kind, and hardworking young man and we will hold him in our hearts forever,” says Kate Koch.
