Ole Miss Decommit LB Fred Clark Announces Pledge To Mississippi State

The Ole Miss Rebels' roll on the recruiting trail took a slight step back when three-star linebacker Fred Clark announced his decommitment.

Class of 2024 three-star linebacker Fred Clark de-commited from the Ole Miss Rebels Thursday, and it took him five days to find a new home.

Clark announced his commitment to the Mississippi State Bulldogs Monday, as the eighth pledge in their 2024 recruiting cycle and helping bump them to the No. 28 team ranking, according to 247Sports. The Winona, MS. native took an unofficial visit to Starkville last Thursday.

"After I committed to Ole Miss, everything seemed to go downhill with their coaches and they didn't talk to me as much," Clark told 247Sports. "But Mississippi State's coaches always hit me up from Day 1 and it was my first offer. Coach (Zach) Arnett and Coach (Matt) Brock would text me every other day. We have a great bond and we always have."

Clark is the No. 71 linebacker and the No. 21 player in Mississippi in the class of 2024, standing 6-2 and weighing 230 pounds.

He first committed to the Rebels on March 7 after receiving an offer on March 22. His first offer in his recruitment was from Mississippi State on Feb. 7.

"The coaches actually pushed me harder after I committed to Ole Miss and it's been good," Clark said. "When I first committed, a lot of other schools died down except for Mississippi State and Cincinnati."
