Central Florida woman accused of shoplifting at mall while car caught on fire with children inside
A VETO PLAYS HAVE RELEASED NEW DETAILS INVOLVING A HALF FIRE THAT RESULTED IN ARSON AND AGGRAVATE A CHILD NEGLECT CHARGES. WHILE SHE’S GAIL PASCOE, BROWN SHOWS US THE NEW VIDEO FROM OUTSIDE OF THE OVIEDO MALL. THE THREE CHILDREN WERE RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER THIS CAR FIRE ON MAY 26. IN THE DILLARD’S PARKING LOT ON OVIEDO MALL BOULEVARD. INVESTIGATORS SAY 24 YEAR OLD ALISHA MOORE HAD PARKED HER CAR, LEFT THE CHILDREN INSIDE AND WENT INTO DILLARD’S. THE ARREST REPORT SAYS WHILE INSIDE DILLARD’S LOSS PREVENTION OBSERVED MOORE AND ANOTHER UNKNOWN MALE BEGIN TO SHOPLIFT ITEMS. THEY WERE WATCHED BY SECURITY FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR. THE REPORT ALSO SAYS MOORE BEGAN TO LEAVE THE STORE AND SAW THAT HER CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. POLICE SAY SHE DROPPED THE STOLEN MERCHANDISE PRIOR TO LEAVING THE STORE. ONE CHILD ATTEMPTED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR, A SHOPPER SAYS, AND RESCUING THE CHILDREN, ONE GIRL SUFFERED SEVERAL FIRST DEGREE BURNS, SO TYPICALLY TO HER FACE AND EARS, MOORE IS CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED CHILD NEGLECT. INVESTIGATORS SAY THAT MOORE IS ALSO CHARGED WITH ARSON SINCE THE CAR FIRE HAPPENED DURING THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY. SHE PLED NOT GUILTY TO BOTH CHARGES. IN OVIEDO, I’M PASCAL BROWN, WESH 2 NEWS. ALICIA MOORE WAS ALSO ARRESTED FOR OUTSTANDING WARRANTS AND OTHER COUNTIES UNRELATED TO THE CURRENT CASE IN SUMTER COUNTY. SHE’S GOT TWO WARRANTS FOR PETTY THEFT AND BATTERY OF A PERSON, 65 OR OLDER. Three children were rushed to the hospital after a car fire on May 26 in the Dillard's parking lot on Oviedo Mall Boulevard. Investigators say 24-year-old Alicia Moore had parked her car, left the children inside and went to Dillard's. The arrest report says: "While inside Dillard's, loss prevention (employees) observed Moore and another unknown male begin to shoplift items. They were watched by security for approximately one hour." The report also says Moore began to leave the store and saw that her car was engulfed in flames.Police say she dropped the stolen merchandise prior to leaving the store.One child attempted to get out of the car. A shopper assisted in rescuing the children.The children were taken to the hospital and treated for multiple first-degree burns.One girl "suffered several first-degree burns, specifically to her face and ears," according to the arrest report. Moore is charged with aggravated child neglect.Investigators say Moore is also being charged with arson since the car fire happened during the commission of a felony.She pled not guilty to both charges Friday during her first court appearance.Moore was also arrested for outstanding warrants in other counties unrelated to the current case.In Sumter County, she has warrants for petty theft, and battery of a person 65 or older. She was also charged in Orange County for fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement with sirens.
