Rare dinosaur tracks now available to public
OURAY, Colo. (KREX) — Outside of Ouray, the United States Forest Service purchased 27 acres of land for $130,000 to obtain rare dinosaur tracks. A Forest Service paleontologist told WesternSlopeNow a dinosaur from the long-neck or brontosaurus family made the tracks during the Jurassic period. In total, there are 134 tracks on the same site. That many tracks in one place is extremely rare.
Alpine Lodging expands ownership
For decades, Alpine Lodging (AL) has been owned by the same partners, Frank Ruggeri, who started business in 1996, and Larry Mallard who joined in 2003, along with two “silent” partners who’ve been with the company since 2009. Lake City physician assistant returns from medical mission in Ukraine
Bob Downs has worked as a physician assistant in the tiny mountain town of Lake City for the past decade. The 66-year-old retired from full-time practice in February. Then in March, he went to Ukraine on a medical mission with Global Care Force, a nonprofit organization. Downs needed to raise $6,500.00 to go on the trip. He surpassed that goal in a matter of days with a majority of his funding coming from the Lake City community. For KVNF, Laura Palmisano interviewed Downs about his experiences in war-torn Ukraine.
