There is a long history of anger between the two property owners due to issues relating to where one's boundary ends and the other's begins.

Fellow neighbours have helplessly watched on as the dispute has festered, leaving one of the plots vacant for years and the other without room to build a home on.

Now, the owner of the smaller side has firmly drawn their line in the sand by erecting a large fence to prove exactly where their property ends.

It cut their new neighbours off from half of their swimming pool and garage.

The issue first began years ago when somebody decided to buy both property lots in 2003 and build a house in the middle of them.

After going into foreclosure, one lot was returned to its original owner and the other went to a bank - the large house now inter-tangled across both lots.

This set off a chain of events that still doesn't seem to be solved today.

The house remained vacant for several years after the boundary dispute left the bank unable to sell the property as it didn't fully belong to them.

The house listing was forced to disclose that "the pool and the garage are partially on the adjacent parcel and not included in the sale".

Real-estate agents stayed well clear of the mess until the house was eventually sold at auction years later - but the issue only deepened.

The new homeowners were welcomed to the neighbourhood with next door's owner building a fence across their pool and garage.

"This is how they chose to make their statement to the new owner," said a concerned local resident to WFTV9 in 2020.

The neighbour blames the city council for the issues. "They didn't permit this the right way, they should have made the owners re-plot the properties into two separate properties - they never did that."

The petty dispute appears to have left both sides miserable and caused a giant headache for the community and council.
