Wawa, Second Harvest announce ‘Fly Beyond’ program to help families receive food

ORLANDO, Fla. — Wawa and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida are working together to help more than 50,000 households put food on the table.

They started a pilot program called “Fly Beyond” to help people experiencing food insecurity.

These will include the Summer Food Service and school programs.

Wawa pledged $1 million to help Second Harvest increase the fresh produce available.

Wawa unveiled the partnership at Eccleston Elementary School in Orlando last week.

“We need to make sure we are here for our families, for our children, so (there is) no better time right now,” Wawa President Brian Schaller said.

They also unveiled branded market carts and reusable bags.

Fly Beyond is expected to start next month.
