Carnival is a multiday celebration, traditionally taking place just before Lent. For those from the islands in the Caribbean, Carnival is often celebrated with parades filled with masqueraders dressed in vibrant, bright, handcrafted costumes.

Orlando's celebration begins Friday, with Carnival on the Runway.

The biggest part of the festivities start at 2 p.m. Sunday. A large parade through downtown Orlando will lead to Tinker Field and Camping World Stadium, where the Caribbean festivities continue with arts, food and concerts.

Some events also are scheduled for Saturday, starting at 8 a.m.

Carnival celebrations have been taking place in Central Florida for more than 30 years, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced a two-year pause.
