Scattered storms Friday, high rip current risk over holiday weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. — People in Central Florida may see scattered storms on Friday, but things are about to improve for the holiday weekend.

Our area will have a 60% chance of seeing rain and showers on Friday.

The high temperature in Orlando should reach around 82 degrees in the afternoon.

Our forecast is looking much nicer for the weekend.

We will be partly cloudy with only a 20% chance for rain Saturday and Sunday.

Channel 9 meteorologists are still monitoring any area near the Carolinas that may show some tropical disturbance or sub-tropical storm development.

Even if the area forms, it’s not projected to move to Florida.

With that offshore, our seas will build, and it will be windy.

High-breaking surf is possible, and swimmers need to look out for a high rip current risk.

Some parts of Central Florida’s coast could see beach erosion from the high surf.
