Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on Colonial Drive in Orlando, troopers say

ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a deadly crash involving a pedestrian in Orange County.

Troopers said a person was killed after they were struck by a driver around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on East Colonial Drive.

The crash has westbound lanes closed for several hours near Sandy Creek Lane.

Investigators said the driver who hit the person stayed on the scene.

“It doesn’t appear that was any ill intent or malice in this situation. Just a very unfortunate accident,” said Cody Griffith with the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said it is still unclear what caused the crash.
