(Orange, MA) Orange Fire Chief James Young was driving on Danial Shays Highway Thursday afternoon when he saw smoke coming from the rear compactor of a trash hauler. He was able to alert the driver with his emergency lights and when the vehicle stopped, fire was visibly coming out of the hauler.
Chief Young was able to contain the fire with his extinguisher until fire engines arrived to assist and completely extinguish the fire. No injuries or damage outside of the compactor was incurred.
