UPDATE:
Hamilton County deputies and SWAT responded to the Super 8 in Ooltewah Monday night in response to a person barricaded in a room who was having a "mental health crisis," the sheriff's office says.
HCSO says their Hostage Negotiation Team also responded to the scene and were actively negotiating with the party in an attempt to de-escalate the situation.
Unfortunately HCSO says the incident concluded with the person dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The roadway area around the 8943 block of Lee Highway has been reopened, but HCSO says investigators still remain on the scene conducting a death investigation.
