Suspected DUI Driver Barricades Inside Vehicle at Pursuit Termination

Riverside, Riverside County, CA: A suspected DUI driver drank beer and appeared agitated as he barricaded inside his car after a PIT maneuver by police terminated pursuit of the vehicle around 10:15 p.m. in the city of Riverside.

The Ontario Police Department was in pursuit of a suspected DUI driver who entered the westbound 60 Freeway Friday night, Mar. 17.

The suspect continued westbound on the 60 Freeway into the city of Diamond Bar where he turned around at Grand Avenue and then entered the eastbound 60 Freeway heading back toward the city of Ontario. He continued eastbound on the 60 Freeway to the city of Riverside, where he exited at Market Street.

Ontario PD PIT maneuvered the vehicle once it exited the freeway and blocked in the vehicle.

The agitated suspect refused to exit the vehicle and was seen yelling at officers. He was also observed taking a few gulps of beer.

Ontario PD responded with their SWAT Bearcat to assist with the barricade situation. The officers shot less lethal pepper ball rounds into the vehicle.

After about 10 minutes, the suspect came out of the vehicle and was taken into custody by officers.
