We are very, very proud that um as of this morning K TV, and Hearst are the proud owners of the Burlington Station that Wednesday morning announcement to the TV, staff signals the start of *** new era for Omaha. The Burlington train station, one of the city's first grand structures will be the new home for the Burlington is just south of the old market opening in 18 98. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but for the past 40 years, it's been empty in disrepair, someone to come in there and say, you know, we want to be *** part of this and wants to be *** part of the Burlington. So we're proud to be *** part of it. President Ariel Roblin looked all around the metro for *** place to move. You see the television stations basically outgrown its current location at 27. And Douglas Roblin is impressed with how the Burlington has survived all these years and loves the location when people are investing in *** new property. Why not look at downtown, why not look at an old building that has incredible bones that you can make into something That's absolutely incredible. Why not? It's *** planned two year renovation. Yeah. Isn't it wonderful? The bones of the Burlington are strong brickwork laid at the end of the 19 th century still stands firm on the main concourse. *** wide expanse of tiled floor. It's not original to the building. It was added during one of the station's renovations to cover *** grand double staircase leading to the train gates. There are areas cordoned off that were once waiting rooms and smoking lounges on the lower level, three arches, the paths to the train tracks just outside white glazed bricks still lines the hallways here. Another concourse leads to more waiting areas and office spaces for decades. It's been frozen in time. *** CAV says as the renovation takes place, much will be preserved and restored including the arching brick ceilings and the columns which have stood for *** century. It won't be *** long move from 27 th and Douglas to 10th Street, but it will be *** big move as K E V renovates and moves into the 115 year old Burlington station. I think it's great news. It's very exciting. It's exciting for downtown. It's exciting for Omaha to the station too. We're taking an historic building. It's very, very important to the history of this city and we're going to see it come to life again. That's what frequent Amtrak writer Doug Marsh hopes. I don't know how Amtrak is going exactly. Fit into the picture if they will. But you know, the outsider obviously will look much better than it used to and they'll present *** much better picture the city to those people that are coming here. Downtown Improvement District, Executive Director, Joe Guten Rath thinks the addition of KV will keep investment rolling. And this is another part of the downtown that will be within walking distance of all of the other attractions and simply build on the momentum that we've established over the past few years. Gura says they're continuing to see growth and he's glad to see the Burlington get *** new owner. We're still the growth of downtown continue to spread out in all directions. And this is *** great addition to the southern end of the old market and central business district and maybe get the whole area on track for the future. My hope is that this building opens and all of *** sudden from the Burlington to the zoo, we've got commerce and great neighborhoods and just the lively atmosphere that's safe and people can enjoy for nearly 80 years. It was *** destination point where travelers first arrived in Omaha to visit family or start new lives. Burlington station helped connect families and build Omaha. Well, now this historic landmark will help keep Omaha informed. It's the right thing to do. President Ariel Roblin says the station will transform this historic old railway station into Omaha's state of the art electronic media facility we thought. Well, this is, this is very similar to *** television station in the sense that you know, the way our operations are, you've got administration and you have business and you have sales that's up on the main floor and then on another floor, you have people working non stop deadline driven. *** two year renovation project will be launched and another Omaha institution, the architectural firm of Leo *** DA will be in charge of turning this landmark into *** television facility. We're going to have the latest technology, communications, technology, television, technology and we're going to have all this historic building around it. It's going to, it's going to be *** wonderful, wonderful story. E employees learned the news just *** few hours ago in the studio that served Omaha viewers since 1957. While the facility at 27 th and Douglas was built for future growth. No one fully envisioned the rapid growth of communication, technology, mobile and web based news plus the multiple programming options. CAV delivers around the clock. Executives say the new facility will enhance the station's mission to be the station of record for the people of Omaha, Eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. It really goes back to the people that watch us every day. You know, the people that we serve every day, the people we think about every day. That's, that's the reason that we get to do this. So, you know, we gotta do it Right.
