Summer safety: How to recognize signs of heat-related illness
With hot and humid weather in the Omaha area, be aware of the warning signs for heat-related illnesses.
Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are common during hot weather.
Symptoms of heat exhaustion include nausea/vomiting; faintness or dizziness; excessive sweating; cool, pale, clammy skin; a rapid, weak pulse; and muscle cramps.
If you're showing these symptoms, get to a cool, air-conditioned place and drink water, if conscious. You can also take a cool shower or use a cold compress.
