PROPANE TANK ROCKS THIS STORAGE FACILITY SENDING A FORKLIFT OPERATOR TO THE HOSPITAL WITH LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. THANKS FOR JOINING US. I’M BILL SCHMITZ. I’M JULIE CORNELL. WORKERS SAY THE BLAST FELT AND SOUNDED LIKE A SONIC BOOM. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S ALEX MCLOON JOINS US FROM 30TH AND AMES WITH MORE FROM OFFICIALS AND PEOPLE NEARBY WHO FELT THE FORCE. JULIE BILL EMPLOYEES AT A NEARBY AUTO PARTS SHOP THOUGHT THEY HEARD A JET BEFORE THEY LOOKED OUTSIDE AND SAW THESE GARAGE DOORS HANGING OFF THE STORAGE FACILITY. IT WAS LIKE AN EXPLOSION, BUT IT WAS A CONCUSSIVE WAVE. IT WAS A FORKLIFT PIERCING ITS OWN PROPANE TANK. ACCORDING TO FIREFIGHTERS. THE FORKLIFT OPERATOR HAD PIERCED ONE OF THE PROPANE BOTTLES THAT OPERATE FOR OPERATION OF THE FORKLIFT. APPROXIMATELY 33 POUND BOTTLE OF PROPANE. OFFICIALS EXTINGUISHED THE BURNING BOTTLE, CLEARED THE BUILDING AND RUSHED THE BURNED OPERATOR TO NEBRASKA MEDICAL CENTER AROUND NOON MONDAY. THIS STORAGE BUILDING CONTAINS OTHER SUPPLIES, INCLUDING MORE PROPANE BOTTLES THAT WERE UNHARMED. AN ENGINEER WILL CHECK THE STRUCTURE AFTER OTHER PEOPLE SAY THEY FELT THE BLAST. IT SHOOK THE WHOLE BUILDING. SO WHENEVER IT WAS, IT WAS IT WAS A LOT MUD AND CUT OFF GAS AND POWER. AS INVESTIGATORS CONTINUE TO ASSESS THE BUILDING, IT SOUNDED LIKE WE THOUGHT IT WAS A SONIC BOOM. WE THOUGHT IT WAS A JET FLYING OVER OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. BUT IT WAS IT WAS RIGHT BEHIND US. THE WHOLE ENTIRE TIME. WE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW WHERE IT’S COMING FROM. INVESTIGATORS ARE NOW LOOKING FOR AN IGNITION SOURCE. THEY’LL TURN THE BUILDING BACK OVER TO OMAHA PUBLIC SCHOOLS AFTER THEIR INVESTIGATION. LIVE IN NORTH OMAHA AL
