AS MY SECOND HOMETOWN, I THOUGHT, HEY, COME ON, THAT’S NOT FAIR. I HAD THIS DOOR TO CRAZILY START WITH AND THEN TALK WITH MY WIFE AND THEN ABOUT LIKE, HEY, WHAT IF WE OPEN A TRADITIONAL CHINESE RESTAURANT HERE TO SERVE THE FOOD THAT I WAS EATING IN CHINA? MY WIFE LIKED MY IDEA, ENCOURAGE ME EVERY SINGLE STEP. AND RIGHT NOW WE’RE HERE. THAT’S RIGHT. WE’RE SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE, JOE. THANK YOU. Veteran-owned restaurant Blue and Fly Asian Kitchen has earned customers' praise for authentic and flavorful food. Founded in 2015, Blue and Fly's inception came when owner Yue Cong was serving in the military. "Back in the day, about 10 years ago, I joined the Guard and traveled with the Army for every single major city in the United States, and about that time, I found out there's at least one or two traditional Chinese restaurants in every single city," Cong said. "But back in the day in Omaha, we don't have one. Omaha as my second home, I felt like, 'hey come on, that's not fair.'"Soon after, Yue and his wife opened Blue and Fly, offering customers both traditional Chinese dishes like dry braised beef and hometown favorites like peanut butter chicken.
