Omaha Police are investigating a Tuesday afternoon crash that killed one person and injured three others.
Here's what we know from police:
At 1:43 pm, officers were dispatched to a three-vehicle crash at 50th and NW Radial Hwy. An investigation stated that an eastbound 2010 Kia Forte had slowed or stopped to the far right/southern turn lane of NW Radial, just before the 50th Street intersection.
Police say the Kia then attempted to make a left turn, improperly crossing both eastbound lanes and a northbound turn lane.
An eastbound 2008 Nissan Altima took "evasive action" to avoid hitting the Kia. They did not make contact, according to police. The Altima crashed east of the intersection.
The Kia continued its turn and was then struck by a westbound 2000 Ford F-150 pickup. Four adults were transported to Nebraska Medicine by Omaha Fire.
The driver of the Kia, identified as 78-year-old Robert Williams, is being treated for chest and back pain.
The passenger of the Kia, identified as 76-year-old Melody Stephens, died shortly after arrival at the hospital.
The driver of the Ford was identified as 44-year-old Timothy Broersma. He was uninjured but an adult passenger was treated for arm and shoulder pain.
The driver of the Nissan was identified as 37-year-old Nathaniel Sayles. He complained of pain in his arm and leg and left the hospital shortly after giving a statement to an officer against medical staff advice.
The roadway was reopened at 5:45 pm. The crash remains under investigation.
