Since 14 years old, Daniel Castaneda has been telling a story using just a paintbrush.
"Everything is on my mind. So, I don't need the sketch and I can just paint something really quick and without having to draw it first," Castaneda said.
When the paint hits the canvas, his inner artist emerges, and the creativity flows. Since coming to the metro that hasn't slowed Castaneda down.
"I did my first mural after three months I came to Omaha and since then I haven't stopped," he said.
His latest project in collaboration with the Omaha Summer Arts Festival, alongside 15 artists, has five murals sitting on the face of giant cubes.
"I have this elephant that is playing some records and also have a brush on her trunk and it's painting and splashing the colors on the palette," Castaneda said.
Inspired by the upcoming season, art and nature is something Castaneda said he can bring to the streets.
"This are like free art galleries for the people and the community so they can pass by and look at our work," he said.
Equipped with the option to use your phone for a different experience.
"This is my first interactive mural so if you can download the app called Artivive and then you just put your camera on, on the mural and it starts coming alive," Castaneda said.
The mural cubes are in place throughout the city, you can view them at 16th and Dodge, or over in South Omaha on 24th and N or head to 24th and Lake.
They'll be on display until June 11, for more locations and information on the Omaha Summer Arts Festival, head to summerarts.org.
