NOW, AUTHORITIES SAY 38 YEAR OLD LORENA LA DIAZ WAS ALLEGEDLY DRUNK WHEN SHE TURNED IN FRONT OF GARY. AMANDA, EMILY’S MOTORCYCLE. HE DIED AT THE SCENE. IN COURT, ATTORNEYS SAY OFFICERS COULD SMELL ALCOHOL ON HER, BUT THAT LA DIAZ REFUSED TO FIELD SOBRIETY AND BREATHALYZER TEST BY SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATIONS SHOWED THE DEFENDANT HAD BEEN DRINKING AT A NIGHTCLUB FROM 11:39 A.M. UNTIL ABOUT 1:30 A.M. RECEIPTS IN HER NAME INDICATED FIVE SEPARATE DRINK PURCHASES, AND IT WAS UP TO 30 IS ON VIDEO. AND SO MANY ALCOHOL. The 38-year-old woman accused of hitting a killing a motorcyclist appeared in front of a judge Wednesday morning. According to prosecutors, Lorena Lara-Diaz, from Marshall, Missouri, was allegedly drunk when she turned in front of 45-year-old Gary Mangiameli's motorcycle early Sunday morning near 26th and L streets.Mangiameli died at the scene. In Douglas County court, prosecutors said officers could smell alcohol on Lara-Diaz, but that she refused a field sobriety and breathalyzer test. "Subsequent investigation showed the defendant had been drinking at a nightclub from 11:39 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.," said Alexander Kelly, the Douglas County deputy attorney. "Receipts in her name indicated five separate drink purchases, and the defendant is on video consuming alcohol."Bond was set at $200,000 for Lara-Diaz, who is charged with manslaughter, and her preliminary hearing is set for May 2.Get the latest headlines from KETV NewsWatch 7

The 38-year-old woman accused of hitting a killing a motorcyclist appeared in front of a judge Wednesday morning.
