Kids Can shows off new building at Monday ribbon cutting
Kids Can held a ribbon cutting Monday morning to mark the opening of its new Kids Can Community Center.
The center is located at 4768 Q St. in Omaha, with over 26,000 square feet and an increased capacity of 237 children.
"It's important to me to stay in South Omaha," Kids Can CEO Robert Patterson said. "Serve those kids and the neighbor kids around us but also make a nice space for them."
The facility has two infant rooms, four toddler classrooms, three out-of-school classrooms, including a STEM room and a full-court gym, among other features.
State Senator Tony Vargas attended the ribbon cutting [he also attended the building's groundbreaking] and said having organizations invest in South Omaha is critical to the area's success.
Vargas praised Kids Can for bringing more accessible childcare to the area.
"We need more organizations that invest in early childhood," Vargas said. "They've had a history here, but this new facility is exactly what we needed in South Omaha."
