Bluejays look to make history with first trip to Final Four
In a repeat of the first round of 2022's March Madness the Creighton Bluejays look to advance past the San Diego Aztecs Sunday afternoon. Both programs are seeking their first Final Four appearance in program history.
Creighton advanced to the Elite Eight following wins over North Carolina State, Baylor and Princeton. The Aztecs knocked off Charleston, Furman and No. 1 seed Alabama.
"They might not know where Omaha or Nebraska is but we have a good basketball team there," Creighton big-man Ryan Kalkbrenner told KETV's sports team. "I think we showed people we have a really good team and can win a bunch of games here in March."
The teams met most recently in 2022 - Creighton was a nine seed and defeated San Diego State - the eight seed - by three.
Creighton is 5-3 all-time against the Aztecs including a 1-2 record on neutral courts.
The winner will take on Florida Atlantic University in Houston. Creighton met FAU just once in program history - the Jays won by 20.
