The Bluejays are taking flight!
Students and fans lined up outside Creighton's Morrison Stadium as the men's basketball team hit the road for the NCAA tournament.
The sixth-seeded Jays are preparing to face the Princeton Tigers in a Sweet 16 matchup.
Creighton students said this team is special and it's been a wild season.
"This is really exciting. I think we're going to do really well. This is the first time in a long time," sophomore Margo Maynard said.
"This is what we always wait for is March. It's the most exciting time to be a Bluejay," senior Karli Baker said.
Jenna Souchek and her six kids say they watch every Creighton game on TV.
"We try and get them to at least one game a year. Popcorn budget's not big enough for every game," Souchek said.
She says Bluejay basketball is a big part of her family.
"My husband and I both went to school here. My husband was on the practice squad under Dana Altman his senior year. And then we're just raising these guys right with Bluejay fans," Souchek said.
The high flying team is ready to put on for its city.
"Creighton represents Omaha, it represents Nebraska," Souchek said.
Fans say they're ready for Friday's game and even have dreams of cutting down national championship nets.
"I have them all the way. Winning the whole thing," senior Angela Murray said.
"I have them picked to win it all. They're winning my bracket," Souchek said.
