A missing 56-year-old man has been identified as the body found along Rainwood Road in Omaha, according to authorities.
Patrick Weber, who was reported missing by Council Bluffs police, was identified as the body found after an autopsy as part of a homicide investigation, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
There is no information at this time as to a cause of death.
Council Bluffs police said Weber was reported missing on March 4.
He reportedly traveled from Kearney to Council Bluffs on Feb. 27 and checked into a hotel near Interstate 80 and the South Expressway, authorities said.
Council Bluffs police said the family reported Weber missing after he didn't return to Kearney, and they were unable to make contact with him.
His mother Sandy Day said his family originally tried to report him that Thursday, March 2. This was after receiving a phone call that Weber's dog was left alone in his motel room.
"He would not leave that dog," Day said. "He would have done anything needed, do anything and everything to get the dog back. He would never let that dog in the motel. I think from the very beginning, I, in my heart, I knew something was very wrong."
She says he wasn't officially considered a missing person until two days later.
His mom said Patrick told the family he would drive down to Lincoln for a couple days then go to work on Friday. She didn't know why, but was surprised to hear he was in Council Bluffs instead.
Day said in her mind, every sign pointed to Weber planning to come back. She says he washed his clothes to go to work on Friday and bought new pants for a court hearing.
According to court documents, Weber was expected in Buffalo County Court for Meth possession charges.
Day says Weber had gotten in with the wrong crowd, but cleaned up his act.
She believes Weber tried to meet a date in Council Bluffs before he vanished.
"I think he just got into something with somebody he thought was going to be really nice. It's going to be somebody that, you know, he's going to go out and have some fun," Day said. "I think he just ran into the wrong person, you know, and was an evil person."
Weber's vehicle was last seen on March 6 when it was parked and unoccupied near South 48th Street and Robin Drive in Bellevue, authorities said.
The car was not impounded and is now missing again.
Investigators said someone walking their dog found Weber's body on Monday near 66th street. The first call to 911 was around 3:45 p.m.
Day says she wants answers about what happened to her son.
"Can they go in and check his records, phone records and tell me where these phone calls were made or was it used a lot?" she said. "Are they going to find this person? Is there any way we can find out who did this and why? Why why did they do it?"
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office Captain Eric Sellers said they've drafting search warrants for Weber's phone. No cause of death will be released for Weber at this time.
The remains of two other people were also found along Rain Wood Road in the last seven months.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the three cases are not connected.
Freddy Dead was found on 84th and Rainwood.
A male skull belonging to a 25 to 50 year old was also found near 216th street. Cadaver dogs searched the area for the rest of the body but did not find anything.
DCSO said the skull didn't have an obvious signs of trauma. They believe this skull has been out there between 2 to 20 years.
