Lanes reopen on Atlantic Blvd. at Century 21 Dr. after crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A crash on Atlantic Boulevard at Century 21 Drive in the Woodland Acres neighborhood had all westbound lanes shut down Wednesday afternoon. As of 4:45 p.m., traffic was backed up to Regency. All lanes were back open by 7:30 p.m.

Ex-JTA board member turned Deegan critic is key figure in JTA probes

A Florida attorney general subpoena delivered this week to Mayor Donna Deegan adds another layer to former Jacksonville Transportation Authority board member Megan Hayward's emergence as a key figure in ongoing investigations and reviews of JTA at the state and local level with some mayoral politics added to the mix. The subpoena seeks any notes and other documents in the mayor's office about a meeting in March 2025 between Deegan and Hayward when Hayward raised concerns about JTA. Hayward also will feature in some way in an upcoming review by a City Council committee of JTA's finances that will examine whether "whistleblower concerns were adequately addressed," according to the memo by City Council President Nick Howland for the committee's scope of work. The memo does not identify a whistleblower by name, but Howland said it refers to Hayward. And in the race for mayor, state Rep. Wyman Duggan, who is challenging Deegan , said Deegan removed Hayward from the JTA board even though Hayward warned her in their March 2025 meeting about the financial crisis that currently is causing deep transit service cuts and layoffs at JTA .
