Lady Panther softball closes out regular season with sweep
The Lady Panther softball team closed out the regular season at home Tuesday with a pair of wins against TMP. Great Bend ends the regular season with a record of 20-6 and currently sits as the No. 3 seed in the 5A west regional bracket. The top four teams in the regional will host playoff action. Topeka Seaman (19-6) and Valley Center (17-6) have games scheduled on Thursday.
May proclaimed as National Bike Month in Barton County
The 50th Biking Across Kansas (BAK) event does not begin until June but May is National Bike Month. Tuesday morning, the Barton County Commission approved a proclamation to recognize the month locally. Dale Hogg, who is gearing up for his sixth BAK next month, said National Bike Month is a useful tool to bring awareness to the benefits and dangers of cycling.
