OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (WTNH) – News 8 meteorologist Gil Simmons was In Your Neighborhood this weekend, helping collect food for the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries (SSKP) at Old Saybrook Fire Department.
The 12th annual food drive partnered with shoreline fire departments to collect nonperishable food for local residents in need.
Gil said the Saturday food drive was soggy, but many viewers showed up.
His location at the Old Saybrook Fire Department collected 2,157 pounds of food and $1,120.36 in monetary donations.
