OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. ( KFOR ) – UPDATE Sunday 9.24.2023 10:00AM :

News 4 has obtained video capturing the moment when shots were fired inside the Bennett Event Center, located on the east side of the fairgrounds.

The video shows two groups of people fighting. As the camera turns away, you can hear the sound of a gunshot.

“It was an isolated incident between two groups of juveniles,” said Scott Munz, a spokesman for the fair.

“There was another incident with another person that had fired off some rounds into the air,” said Captain Valerie Littlejohn with OKCPD. “We did get two people in custody. We’re trying to determine their involvement. It is believed one of those is the shooter and is the suspect in this incident.”

Officers are working to determine if the gun recovered at the scene was the weapon used during the event.

The fair has a no-gun policy, along with metal detectors, and security. Investigators are looking over video to determine how the suspect managed to bring the gun inside.

Fair officials said the fair will be open again on Sunday, which is the final day of the fair. However, in a tweet the fair said, “Starting at 5 p.m. daily, all minors, age 17 and under, must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone (21+) when entering the Fair. Parents, guardians, or chaperones may accompany no more than six minors 17 years of age and under.”

UPDATE 10:30 P.M.

Police have since confirmed that one person was shot and is in critical condition. Two people were arrested and a handgun was recovered according to Oklahoma City Police.

The incident occurred earlier Saturday night when a group of men got into a fight with gunshots going off.

The scene has since died down and most people have left.
