The Oklahoma Humane Society shared some good news after three dozen dogs were rescued after they were found in a hot U-Haul truck in an Oklahoma City Walmart parking lot.
On Monday, police arrested two people after 36 dogs and puppies were found locked in a U-Haul truck in a parking lot of a Walmart along Northwest Expressway near North Council Road.
Many dogs were found in deplorable conditions, as cages were stacked on top of each other inside the U-Haul. Police said a thermometer read that it was over 100 degrees inside the truck, and several dogs showed severe signs of heat stroke.
The kennel crates also were filthy, and police said the smell inside the U-Haul was overwhelming.
The dogs were seized and taken to various places, which has led to some good news.
The Oklahoma Humane Society took in 17 of the dogs. The nonprofit posted on social media Thursday that one of the dogs gave birth to puppies, bringing their total to 23.
