WITH INVESTIGATORS ABOUT WHAT THEY KNOW SO FAR. HERE AT THE MUSEUM OF ART, YOU CAN SEE THE DOOR HERE ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE BUILDING IS COMPLETELY BOARDED UP. INVESTIGATORS SAY THIS IS AFTER SUSPECTS USED A GOLF CLUB SMASHING IN THE GLASS, GAINING ACCESS INTO THE MUSEUM. THE EMPLOYEE WAS ABLE TO FIND THAT THERE WAS SEVERAL ITEMS OF PROPERTY THAT WERE DAMAGED ON THE INSIDE. THURSDAY MORNING, AROUND 730, POLICE RESPONDED TO A BREAK IN AT THE MUSEUM OF ART ON COUNCIL DRIVE IN DOWNTOWN OKC. SUSPECTS DAMAGING THE PROPERTY ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE BUILDING AND STEALING MERCHANDISE FROM INSIDE THE MUSEUM OF ART STORE. IN OTHER WORDS, DAMAGE TO A DOOR GAINING ACCESS TO THE INSIDE. THERE WAS SOME DAMAGE TO SOME ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT ON THE INSIDE AND THEN IN THE GIFT SHOP. POLICE SAY THE SUSPECTS ALSO BUSTED OUT THE WEST DOOR GLASS AND A WINDOW ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE BUILDING. THEY BELIEVE THE ONLY PERSON AROUND AT THE TIME WAS AN OVERNIGHT SECURITY GUARD FOR THE MUSEUM. BUT THEY BELIEVE THE SECURITY GUARD DIDN’T SEE WHAT HAPPENED. THE MUSEUM OF ART SENT OUT A STATEMENT SAYING, QUOTE, THE INTRUDERS DAMAGED MUSEUM PROPERTY AND ESCAPED WITH SOME MERCHANDISE. WE ARE WORKING CLOSELY WITH OKLAHOMA CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE ANY EVIDENCE TO ASSIST IN THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE PERSONS OF INTEREST. POLICE SAY OFFICIALS NOTED THERE WAS A NEW ALARM SYSTEM RECENTLY PUT INTO THE MUSEUM, BUT THE ALARM HAD NOT BEEN SET. THEY SAY NO LARGE PIECES OF ART SEEMED TO BE MISSING THE NIGHT OF THE BREAK IN, BUT SAID A FULL INVENTORY WOULD TAKE SOME TIME. NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE IN THE CASE. POLICE SAY IF YOU

Investigators are working to identify two suspects who broke into the Museum of Art in downtown Oklahoma City, damaging property and stealing merchandise. On Thursday around 7:30 a.m., the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a break-in at the museum on Couch Drive. Those responsible for the incident damaged property on the east side of the building, using golf clubs to smash the glass door and gain access to the museum. Merchandise from inside the museum's store was also stolen. >> Download the KOCO 5 App"The employee was able to find there were several items of property that were damaged on the inside," said Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Dillon Quirk. "There was damage to a door gaining access to the inside and damage to electronics in the gift shop area." Police said the suspects also busted out glass from a door on the west side of the building, as well as from a window on the north side of the building. They said the only person around at the time was an overnight security guard for the museum, who they believe didn't see what had happened. "The intruders damaged museum property and escaped with some merchandise. We are working closely with Oklahoma City Police Department to provide any evidence to assist in the identification of the persons of interest," said a statement from the museum. Police said officials noted there was a new alarm system recently put into the museum, but the alarm hadn't been set. They said large pieces of art seem to be missing, but they believed the high dollar products were still in the store. No arrests have been made in this case. Police said if you know anything about this investigation, you are asked to call crime stoppers.
