Thacher sweeps team titles at the Frontier League track finals

The Thacher School swept the team championships at the Frontier League Track and Field Finals on Thursday at Villanova Prep in Ojai.

The Thacher boys finished first with 64 points, followed by Villanova Prep (27), Santa Clara (24), Dunn (9), and Laguna Blanca (1).

Jackson Hancock won the 400 in 54.36 seconds, Carlos Ochoa won the 800 (2:03.75), Matthew Daum won the 1,600 (5:10.45), Mateo Escalante won the 3,200 (10:39.88), Sebastian Carr won the 300 hurdles (48.60), Jett Mortensen won the long jump (15 feet, 8.25 inches), and Tevarion Jackson won the shot put (38-11) and high jump (5-4) to lead the Toads. Quinn Armstead, Escalante, Lucas de Clerqc and Carlos Ochoa won the 4x400 relay in 3:56.00.

Santa Clara's Makaio Thompson was a double champion, sprinting to victories in the 100 (11.13) and 200 (22.66). Fabrizio Simental, Davian Valladolid, Jorge Martinez and Thompson won the 4x100 relay in 54.93 for the Saints.

For Villanova Prep, Thien Scofield won the 110 hurdles (20.15) and Joseph Chavarria won the triple jump (32-3.25).

The Thacher girls won the team title with 50 points, followed by Providence (37), Santa Clara (17), Villanova Prep (10), Dunn (3), and Laguna Blanca (1).

Lola Clemens won the 100 in 14.13, Taylor Gudebski won the 800 (2:33.68) and 1,600 (5:22.49), and Sarah Sonenshine won the 3,200 (12:21.70) for the Toads. Clemens, Mia Gaona, Gina Lim and Erin Lacy won the 4x100 relay in 55.66 and Chloe Hamilton, Julie Lui, Sonenshine and Gudebski won the 4x400 relay in 4:39.44.

Alyssa Olmos was a double champion for Santa Clara, winning the shot put (24-7) and discus (65-2). Sofia Peralta won the high jump (4-2) for the Saints.
