Cincinnati weather: Nice end to the weekend as strong winds fade

AIRPLANES. HAD IT NOT BEEN RAINING HERE THURSDAY NIGHT, WE MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEE IT HERE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? NO, BECAUSE THERE WERE REPORTS AND I’M SURE SHE PROBABLY DID THIS THURSDAY NIGHT. THERE WAS A GEOMAGNETIC STORM, BIG SOLAR FLARE, INTERACTED WITH THE EARTH’S ATMOSPHERE. BUT NONETHELESS, THERE WERE REPORTS OF THE NORTHERN LIGHTS AS FAR SOUTH AS ARIZONA, NEW MEXICO, WESTERN PARTS OF CHINA. AND WE ALL MISSED OUR CHANCE. MOTHER NATURE ROBBED ALL OF US. SO YOU’RE NOT ALONE. UNFORTUNATELY, MOST OF US IN THE MIDWEST DIDN’T GET A CHANCE TO SEE THEM BECAUSE SKIES WERE CLOUDY AND IT WAS RAINING. BUT THIS APPARENTLY BE ONE OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR DISPLAYS WE’VE HAD IN YEARS. SO I DON’T KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. WE JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE. BUT MOTHER NATURE ROBBED US OF THAT FUN. YEAH. AND INSTEAD WE GOT A LOT OF RAIN AND WIND. A LOT OF RAIN AND NOW A LOT OF WIND. BUT THIS IS A SIGHT FOR SORE EYES. THE RADARS QUIET BEHIND US NOW, FINALLY GETTING A MUCH NEEDED BREAK AFTER ONE THREE WIDESPREAD INCHES OF RAINFALL WITH SOME ISOLATED HEAVIER AMOUNTS, ESPECIALLY UP THROUGH PARTS OF BUTLER COUNTY INTO SOUTHEAST INDIANA. FORTUNATELY, AS WE HAD ANTICIPATED, WE AVOID IT ANY WIDESPREAD AND SIGNIFICANT FLOODING ACROSS THE AREA. FORTUNATELY, THE GROUND WAS ABLE TO MANAGE AND HANDLE ALL OF THE RAIN THAT CAME DOWN. YES, THE LITTLE AND GREAT MIAMI, THESE ARE IN MINOR FLOOD, BUT THAT’S TYPICALLY THE CASE. WHATEVER. IT RAINS HARD, RIGHT. AND WE’RE NOT INTO ANY HOMES OR BUSINESSES. SO WE AVOIDED WIDESPREAD FLOODING. SO WE LUCKED OUT THERE FROM THAT PERSPECTIVE. HOW ABOUT THESE WINDS? THERE STILL GUSTING UP THERE BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MILES PER HOUR THIS AFTERNOON? NOW, THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN WHERE THEY WERE. WE DID HAVE WIND GUSTS CLOSE TO 50, EVEN ALMOST TO 60 THIS AFTERNOON UP THERE IN WILMINGTON. SO THAT’S WHY SO MANY WERE LEFT IN THE DARK EARLIER THIS MORNING. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT THAT BIG HOLE IN THE ATMOSPHERE, A.K.A. THIS STORM OR SPIN THAT YOU SEE UP HERE BEHIND THE BANNER IN MICHIGAN, IT IS LIFTING OUT OF THE OHIO VALLEY. SO GRADUALLY AS WE WORK OUR WAY THROUGH THE EVENING, ESPECIALLY ONCE THE SUN GOES DOWN, OUR WINDS SHOULD BEGIN TO SUBSIDE FAIRLY QUICKLY. SO IT WON’T BE AS WINDY ALL NIGHT. IT’S ALSO GOING TO BE QUIET AND CHILLY, TOO, WITH MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES. TEMPERATURES BY SUNDAY MORNING DOWN INTO THE THIRTIES. A FANTASTIC WEATHER DAY IS COMING UP TOMORROW TO CONCLUDE OUR WEEKEND SUNSHINE. TEMPERATURES IN THE SIXTIES. A LIGHT BREEZE, NOT HOWLING WINDS. NOW THINGS CHANGE. SUNDAY NIGHT, WE START TO CLOUD UP AND AS WE GO TO BED AND PROBABLY AFTER BEDTIME, SUNDAY NIGHT, OVERNIGHT, SUNDAY INTO EARLY MONDAY, A QUICK LITTLE SYSTEM SCOOTS THROUGH WITH SOME RAIN FOR YOUR MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE. THIS IS A WEAK SYSTEM. IT WON’T BRING HEAVY RAINFALL. I DON’T THINK IT’S GOING TO BE ENOUGH TO AGGRAVATE OUR ALREADY HIGH RIVERS, CREEKS AND STREAMS. SO THAT’S THE GOOD NEWS. THIS SYSTEM IS IN AND OUT VERY FAST. THEN WE’RE LEFT ON MONDAY WITH SOME CLOUDS TO LINGER INTO THE AFTERNOON. SO OUTSIDE OF RIGHT NOW, YOU SEE SOME OF THE SHADOWS BEING CASTED ON THE BUILDINGS DOWNTOWN. 52 OFFICIALLY HERE IN CINCINNATI. IT IS AGAIN, STILL FAIRLY BREEZY OUT THERE. SUSTAINED WINDS CLOSE TO 20. TEMPERATURES RANGE FROM THE MID 50 SOUTH TO THE RIVER WHERE YOU HAVE MORE SUN AND THERE’S MORE CLOUDS. THE FARTHER NORTH YOU WORK TOWARDS I-70. BUT IN AND AROUND THE METRO, MOST OF US ARE AROUND 50. SO WHAT THAT MEANS IS ONCE THE SUN GOES DOWN, THOSE WINDS RELAX, TEMPERATURES WILL DROP OFF. SO BRING A JACKET OR SWEATER. IF YOU HAVE PLANS TO GO OUT THIS EVENING OR TONIGHT, WE’LL GET INTO THE UPPER THIRTIES AFTER MIDNIGHT AND DOWN INTO THE MID THIRTIES BY MORNING WE SHOULD GET DOWN SOMEWHERE BETWEEN ABOUT 33 AND 35. LESS WIND OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. FANTASTIC WEATHER DAY TOMORROW, BACK TO BETWEEN 60 AND 65. HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR DAY PLANNER AND MAKE SURE YOU SPEND SOME TIME OUTDOORS ON WHAT SHOULD BE A PRETTY NICE SUNDAY. HERE’S YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST. ALL RIGHT. THERE’S YOUR RAIN EARLY ON MONDAY, MAYBE A FEW LINGERING SHOWERS ON TUESDAY AS WELL. AND THEN SOME DRY WEATHER IN HERE FOR THE MIDDLE PART OF THE WEEK. AND OPENING DAY. BUT THEN WE’LL NEED TO WATCH NEXT WEEKEND AS IT COULD TURN STORMY ON US AGAIN BY LA
