The family of an Ogilvie mother-of-four killed in a crash earlier this month is asking for the community’s support, with her teenage son still in a critical condition in a hospital.

Candace Berglund was killed in a crash with a semi-trailer on Hwy. 65 in Kanabec County on April 4. The crash left her son, 16-year-old Robbie, with critical head injuries that required emergency surgery.

Berglund’s sister recently created a GoFundMe to support the family and pay for funeral and medical costs.

According to a Wednesday update posted on the fundraiser, Robbie remains in the hospital but is being taken off of sedation "little by little." He is expected to undergo a tracheostomy on Friday.

Berglund had three other children: Thomas, Hunter and Alexia, according to her obituary . She was the owner of The Web of Curiosities retail store in Mora.

"Candace's career path led her to diverse roles, from being a cosmetologist and youth counselor to a bartender and financial aid assistant," her obituary reads. "She also embraced entrepreneurship as the proud owner of The Web of Curiosities."

As of Thursday, the GoFundMe had reached around $2,100 of its $10,000 goal.

“Candace and Robbie are so loved, and it has been amazing to see,” the fundraiser reads.

“Funds will be going to necessities, gas, food, and to help with funeral costs for Candace, and help with Robbie's long term care. Anything leftover will be split between the kids.”
