    Local colleges rank among the best nursing programs in Texas

    PERMIAN BASIN, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Three local colleges have ranked among the top ten for nursing programs in Texas, according to a study done by NursingProcess.org.

    Howard College in Big Spring topped the list at number two, just behind Laredo College. Howard College has offered an associate’s degree in nursing since 1976, comprising of 60 credits including prerequisites. The program covers topics like health assessment, mental health nursing, maternal/newborn nursing, women’s health nursing, care of children and families, as well as enhanced concepts of adult health.

    NursingProcess.org said the ADN program at HC has an excellent pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exam and multiple partnerships with hospitals and clinics in the Big Spring Angelo area. You can learn more about HC’s ADN program and requirements here .

    Midland College ranked number six among the top colleges for ADN programs in Texas. The program combines the art and science of nursing to offer a “well-rounded education.” The coursework covers topics such as health assessment, nursing skills, mental health nursing, pharmacology, and maternal & newborn nursing.

    Odessa College came in at number nine on the list of top ADN programs in Texas, combining laboratory and real-world clinical training. The program emphasizes professionalism, leadership, and lifelong learning.
