Oceanside Police: Man shot in head at apartment complex, dies at hospital

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) – A man was shot in the head at an Oceanside apartment complex early Tuesday morning and later died from his injuries, police said.

According to Oceanside Police, officers were called to the complex on 1860 College Boulevard at around 1:10 a.m. due to reports of a shooting in which one person was wounded.

Officers and paramedics arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound to the head; life-saving measures were performed at the scene before the victim was transported to Palomar Hospital for further treatment.

Oceanside Police confirmed the victim, identified as 26-year-old Alex Hamilton, died after arriving at the hospital.

Details on what led to the shooting and a description of the suspected shooter were not available.

Detectives with Oceanside Police’s Crimes of Violence Unit are investigating the incident.
