Large inflatable movie screens will be set up for families to bring their blankets, chairs, and snacks beginning around approximately 8:30pm. New leash on life for shelter dogs and cats
(June 1, 2023) Gabby is an elderly dachshund who was brought to the Worcester County Humane Society by caring neighbors after her human companion passed away at 99 years old in Ocean Pines. The shelter’s vet diagnosed the dog with pancreatitis and Cushing’s disease. She is at a medical foster home until she recovers and then she will be eligible for adoption.

Local musician battled cancer, now ready to perform again in Ocean City
Randy Lee Ashcraft has been off the music circuit for a year now, after being diagnosed with throat cancer. His return to the stage is now just days away. He and the Saltwater Cowboys are getting together for their first performance since last year at 7 p.m., June 2, at Bourbon Street on the Beach on 126th Street in Ocean City. The performance will be a celebration and fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

OC Marlin Club’s Memorial Day tournament canceled
The Ocean City Marlin Club has canceled its 14th annual Franky Pettolina Memorial Day fishing tournament due to an unsafe offshore weather forecast for the weekend. “We don’t want to put our members or anybody else in any danger just to catch a fish,” said Boz Jefferson, secretary and past president of the Marlin Club, who is also co-chair of the tournament. “It originally started as a bluefish-only tournament for just something different. Franky added the tuna to it to get more folks to fish in it. Bluefish are generally an inshore category fish. The tuna people are going offshore to the canyons and stuff like that.”

SNOW HILL – A book written by local second graders will soon be helping students across the world appreciate the ocean. A book written and illustrated by students in Mackenzie Keyser’s class at Showell Elementary School during the 2020-2021 school year is now being published. Assateague State Park Youth Fishing Derby
BERLIN, Md. - Assateague State Park will be holding their annual Youth Fishing Derby on Sat. June 17. The event starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m. and is free for all. Participants must be children under 16. Registration is at the Nature Nook, next to the "Day Use" parking lot. Participants will get the chance to learn fishing techniques and try their hand at surf fishing alongside Assateague State Park employees who will be on hand to instruct participants in proper fishing methods for the surf.
