SHE’S ACCUSED OF TAKING PUBLIC TAX DOLLARS TO ENHANCE HIS OWN LIFE. BILL SHAMROCK BROUGHT JULIA OAKLAND, NEBRASKA, IS A TOWN OF ABOUT 1200 PEOPLE 70 MILES NORTH OF OMAHA IN BURT COUNTY. AN AUDIT REPORT FROM LAST JUNE ACCUSED THE FORMER OAKLAND POLICE CHIEF OF MISSPENDING ABOUT $14,000, BUT HE WON’T GO TO COURT OVER ALL OF IT. TERRY POLAND IS FACING ONE MISDEMEANOR FEDERAL CHARGE FOR MISUSE OF PUBLIC FUNDS. QUOTE, CONVERTED TO HIS OWN USE. ANY PORTION OF THE PUBLIC MONIES ENTRUSTED TO HIM FOR SAFEKEEPING IN AN AMOUNT THAT DOES NOT EXCEED $1,000, TO WIT. ACQUIRING A BASKETBALL BACK BOARD FOR INSTALLATION AT HIS HOME. WE WENT TO OAKLAND LAST SUMMER AND FOUND THAT BACK BOARD IN QUESTION. AS HIGHLIGHTED BY THE AUDIT REPORT AND VALUED AT $950. THAT REPORT ALSO ACCUSED HIM OF USING SHIELDS GIFT CARDS TO BY OTHER THINGS LIKE FISHING EQUIPMENT, FOOD AND A WAKE SURFBOARD. BUT HE WON’T GO TO COURT OVER THOSE. POLAND IS SCHEDULED FOR A PLEA HEARING ON APRIL 14TH.
