Police searching for hit-and-run driver that crashed into bicyclist in Oakland County

Authorities in northern Oakland County are asking for the public to keep an eye out for a truck that hit a bicyclist and took off from the scene late Thursday afternoon.

GROVELAND TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Authorities in northern Oakland County are asking for the public to keep an eye out for a truck and young driver that hit a bicyclist and took off from the scene late Thursday afternoon.

Michigan State Police said troopers were dispatched to the crash involving a pickup truck and man on a bicycle round 5:15 p.m. on Ortonville Road near Oakwood Rd. in Groveland Township.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they found the bicyclist had sustained minor injuries to his legs and back. He was evaluated by EMS personnel and refused further medical care.

A witness to the crash described the suspect vehicle to police as a a silver quad cab pickup with the driver described as a young male.

Troopers suspect the vehicle could have front end damage to the bumper or grill part of the truck.
