Polarizing' Mid-Century Modern Update Is Breaking People's Hearts

A good update or renovation project is always fun to watch, because it's so enjoyable when you get to see before and after pictures of a truly inspiring reno. But just as excited as we can get when people take the ordinary and turn in into something extraordinary, it's actually quite upsetting when the opposite happens.

That's exactly what is happening with this mid-century modern property listing, according to some folks. A realtor is currently catching a lot of flack after a video tour he shared showed just how much a set of owners had updated their MCM property over the years, erasing some of what made the property so special to begin with.

We can't say that we're as mad as some of the people in the comment section of @mattpetullo's video, because even with the major updates to this property a lot of of its original charm still shines through.

That being said, the 1965 Eichler MCM style home from the Sequoyah Hills neighborhood of Oakland, CA doesn't quite have that original vibe that gives us all the nostalgia that most MCM homes have.

Still, there's no denying that this house is a stunner, and anyone lucky enough to call it home will certainly enjoy spending their days here.

We are absolute suckers for a good MCM tour . We just love getting to take a step back in time and imagine what things used to be like, which is something we're not exactly getting from the OP's video.

Fortunately, there are plenty of other properties out there that still have it all!

'Swiss' MCM Property Has Wartime Charm

For example, there's this absolutely breathtaking MCM property that is traditionally known as the "Swiss Miss." This style borrows a lot of its design from the types of homes you'd expect to see in the Alps.

Apparently, the A-line roof was a favorite amongst solders returning home from the war, which happened to push this style to the forefront of a little while.

Although it's not quite the typical MCM we've fallen in love with over the years, it's still accurately represents the times as far as we're concerned!

    MCM Update Upsets Followers

While we can sympathize with the followers who were unhappy with the updates , we do think that the property still has the bones that made it special. Which is much more than we can say for the MCM property that Chris Pratt and his wife purchased and then demolished, completely erasing the home's character and history in the process.

In the case of the OP's house, at least future owners can bring back some of those forgotten touches if they decide to!
