Not Even a Judge Is Safe From Oakland’s Crime

An Alameda County Superior Court judge had his Rolex watch stolen by a group of men just blocks from an Oakland courthouse Thursday, according to a tweet by the Alameda County Sheriff.

The incident comes just days after an Oakland town hall where residents turned out to demand more police and penalties for criminals.

Oakland police deferred comment to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office who said the men were between 18 and 22 and traveling in a light-colored Hyundai.

Oakland police stats show an increase in robberies in 2023 through the end of April. There were 964 this year, compared to 943 in 2022. Strong-arm robberies have spiked 35% in that same span.

Anyone with information related to the robbery is encouraged to call the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office at 510-667-7721.
