OAKLAND — Two Oakland residents have been arrested and charged with multiple drug-related offenses.
According to Garrett County Sheriff Bryson Meyers, on March 28, detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and Criminal Investigation Division, along with patrol deputies and the Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigator conducted a search and seizure warrant at a residence along the 300 block of Coolidge Avenue, Oakland.
As a result of the investigation, approximately 140 grams of fentanyl was seized, having a street value of approximately $28,000. Also seized were 3.5 grams of methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $300, as well as alprazolam, buprenorphine, $232 in United States currency, drug packaging materials and scales.
Krista Adair Ridder, 32, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of fentanyl large amount, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, possession of buprenorphine, possession of alprazolam, possession of paraphernalia and possession of CDS administering equipment.
Bradley Joseph Ridder, 36, was arrested and charged with possession of fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of paraphernalia.
Both are currently being held in the Garrett County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
According to the DEA, fentanyl is a synthetic drug that is 50 times more potent than heroin and 100 times more potent than morphine. Just 2 milligrams of fentanyl, which is equivalent to 10-15 grains of table salt, is considered a lethal dose.
“I would like to commend the hard work of the detectives and the staff of the Sheriff’s Office for seizing such a large quantity of this deadly drug from our community, ultimately saving many lives,” Sheriff Meyers said. “I would also like to thank the members of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department and members of the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad for their assistance.”
