One man died and a teenager was injured in a crash in Oak Creek on the 300 block of West Oakwood Road Saturday afternoon.

Oak Creek Police responded to the scene at 3:42 p.m. Saturday, April 13, where they found a vehicle had struck a tree after traveling west on West Oakwood Road, according to a news release from the Oak Creek Police Department.

The driver, identified in an updated news release on April 14 as 53-year-old James M. Kielma of Oak Creek, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 14-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital by the Oak Creek Fire Department with critical injuries, but her condition remains stable, authorities said.

"Upon initial investigation, speed appears to be a contributing factor to this crash," authorities said in the updated release.

The investigation is still open and active.

The Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit assisted in the call.
