Multiple Kohl's in Wisconsin evacuated 'out of an abundance of caution,' police said
Police were investigating threats made to multiple Kohl's locations in at least 4 states Friday.
RIGHT. SEARCHING THE STORE BECAUSE OF THAT BOMB THREAT. AND POLICE TELL US THEY DIDN’T FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF BOMBS INSIDE, BUT THAT SEARCH DID SHUT DOWN. THIS KOHL’S HERE BEHIND ME AND NEARBY BUSINESSES FOR HOURS TODAY FOR AT LEAST THREE HOURS. FRIDAY, KOHL’S STORES IN MILWAUKEE AND OAK CREEK EVACUATED THEIR STORES AND CLOSED FOR REPORTS OF BOMB THREATS. YOU CAN SEE THE EMPLOYEE. THEY ARE KIND OF HUDDLED IN THE SHADE, STAYING COOL. EMPLOYEES GATHERING OUTSIDE WERE INSTRUCTED NOT TO RESPOND TO 12 NEWS REQUESTS FOR COMMENT. POLICE SAY OUT OF AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, NEARBY BUSINESSES, INCLUDING TARGET AND FEDEX, EVACUATED AND CLOSED FOR A TIME AS WELL AS POLICE SAY THEIR K-9 OFFICERS WORKED TO INVESTIGATE AND CLEAR THE SCENES. IT WAS INTENSE. THERE WAS A LOT OF OFFICERS AROUND ALL THE ENTRANCE WERE BLOCKED. THEY WERE STOPPING CARS FROM COMING IN AND ASKING QUESTION. ONE OF OUR EMPLOYEES HERE, THEY WOULDN’T LET THEM IN UNTIL HE GAVE SOME ID AND STUFF. THE TWO CALLS AFFECTED IN MILWAUKEE COUNTY, PART OF NATIONWIDE BOMB THREATS TO KOHL’S STORES. POLICE SURROUNDING KOHL’S STORES IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, AND FLORIDA. PHOTOS OF K-9S SEARCHING A KOHL’S IN NEW ALBANY, INDIANA, HERE, MILWAUKEE POLICE AND OAK CREEK POLICE SAY THEY DID NOT DISCOVER ANY EXPLOSIVE DEVICES, THOUGH THE EFFECTS OF THREATS REMAIN. YOU KNOW, THE WORLD’S CHANGING. I MEAN, THIS IS SOMETHING SOMETHING THAT’S GOING ON AND WE’RE, YOU KNOW, COPYCATS, WHATEVER YOU GOT GOING ON. AND CAROLINE, TONIGHT, POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING THESE THREATS. RIGHT. AND SO FAR, KOHL’S CORPORATE OFFICE ALSO HAS NOT BEEN RESPONDING TO ANY OF OUR REQUESTS FOR COMMENT. Multiple Kohl’s stores were evacuated in southeast Wisconsin after police received information of bomb threats on Friday.Oak Creek police responded to a threat at Kohl’s on 9035 S Howell Ave. This store and other nearby businesses were evacuated for safety.Police searched for explosives with K-9 units but did not find "physical evidence to substantiate there was a credible threat to public safety.”News Chopper 12 flew over the store. Police presence, employees outside the store, and shopping carts blocking the entrance of the parking lot could be observed from the helicopter.A second Kohl's store at 27th Street and Loomis Road was also evacuated "out of an abundance of caution," said Milwaukee police.Police later confirmed “a suspect made a bomb threat to a business” Friday at approximately 2 p.m. No explosive devices were located.Other Kohl's stores in the country also received bomb threats. Police investigate threats at stores in Louisville and southern Indiana and Florida.
