Notre Dame Moves Up To No. 3 In Recruiting Rankings After Landing Anthonie Knapp Commitment
Prior to yesterday, Notre Dame had landed just one commitment in 2023, which allowed other programs to catch the Irish 2024 class, which at one time was ranked No. 1. Landing Roswell (Ga.) High School offensive tackle Anthonie Knapp has given the Irish a boost.
Knapp becomes the ninth overall commitment for Notre Dame in the 2024 class, and he's the second commitment in the 2023 calendar year up to this point. Landing Knapp allowed Notre Dame to leap Michigan and jump back up to No. 3 in the 247Sports composite rankings.
Notre Dame trails No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 LSU at this point, although Notre Dame's average ranking per player (91.85) is higher than LSU's average player ranking (90.64). At this point LSU has 11 commitments in the class while Notre Dame has nine, which is why the Tigers have more points at the present moment.
The Irish class was already ranked No. 3 according to Rivals, so there was no movement there. Notre Dame also has a higher per player ranking by Rivals (3.78) than does LSU (3.73). Notre Dame trails LSU by 145 points for the No. 2 spot, which means they are closer to No. 2 than they are No. 4 Florida State, who trails Notre Dame by 324 points.
Seven of Notre Dame's nine commitments are four-star recruits according to the 247Sports composite rankings and the Rivals rankings.
Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South wide receiver Cam Williams is Notre Dame's highest ranked commit on the 247Sports composite ranking. Williams ranks No. 29, ahead of Saline (Mich.) High School quarterback CJ Carr, who ranks No. 40 overall. Carr ranks ahead of Williams in the Rivals rankings (No. 18 to No. 42).
